Mel Gibson’s latest movie, “Hacksaw Ridge”, premiered on the 4th. It’s apparently about Desmond Thomas Doss: A pacifist serving as a medic in WWII, on the front lines. And it’s based on a true story.
Doss has a wikipedia article:
“He was a Corporal (Private First Class at the time of his Medal of Honor heroics) in the U.S. Army assigned to the Medical Detachment, 307th Infantry, 77th Infantry Division.”
This latest film fits neatly into a Gibson trilogy: Passion, Apocalypto, Hacksaw. All three share deeply Christian themes.
The Wave is a Norwegian catastrophe film (English subtitles) which I like for revealing the delicacy of modern society. Moderns tend to obsess over the near-term, disregarding risk. And we tend to believe in our absolute mastery over nature.
What’s most enjoyable is how the film is free from propaganda: Parents protect their children, and men behave as men.
It’s also pleasant to see a community act as a unit, rather than as a collection of modern asocial consumers who happen to temporarily reside in the same location.
This is a must read article by actor Robert Davi. Who knew Davi was such a right-winger?
We should thank God that Trump is in this race. The media and the establishment are terrified. They all have their instructions and they are in lockstep. You see, my dear fellow Americans, if Trump wins the gig is up. He will set back the destruction of America, and the globalists are in a panic. They paint Trump and his supporters as racist and uneducated. Well, guess what – I am neither and I know quite a few people who are for Trump. Some will not openly come out and say they support him because they’re afraid of being falsely labeled by some here in Hollywood…
Nothing will change in America with Kasich or any of these other candidates. Nothing. It will slow down a bit or get worse, but the current direction will continue until there is nothing left of this country. We will have a multicultural hellhole that eventually will be destroyed. The last line of defense is Donald Trump. With his brash, politically incorrect posturing, Donald Trump is holding a mirror up to the hypocrisy that has become America – a drug addicted, weak, and rudderless nation fluttering on the brink of being dismantled from within. ~ Robert Davi
I see a lot of people are attributing Ronda Rousey’s loss to the karma associated with her recent endorsement of Bernie Sanders, but this is not the case. It’s really karma for her accepting the Patrick Swayze role in the remake of Road House (something I vehemently denounced here at CHT), the cosmic implications of which are much more significant. That kick to the head was the cosmos’ way of saying “You ain’t no James Dalton, so stop frontin’.”
Why would anyone want to try?
Road House is one of the most technically flawless pieces of cinema ever put to film. If those jack weeds in Hollywood remake it, I’m personally going to take pitchfork in hand and march on Hollywood and skewer somebody! Have they no shame? Have they no sense of tradition, honor and decency?
When I mount my populist campaign for President, plank number one is going to be to make it a capital offense to remake ANY Patrick Swayze film (except Ghost and Dirty Dancing which we would all rather forget), and this law will be effective retroactively. That’s right Red Dawn and Point Break desecrators, that means you. Screw that whole no ex post facto laws in the Constitution thing. Some wrongs are just too serious to be ignored.
#NoRoadHouseRemake Let’s make it trend!
And the best part, Ann Coulter stars as the Vice President.
I’ve been seeing a lot of commercials for this new show. I’m intrigued. It has a very Twin Peaks look and feel, but the producer is M. Night Shyamalan.
