Teamsters Betray Trump, Endorse Hillary

Teamsters Endorse Hillary Clinton for President

Teamsters have the audacity to say Hillary “I will raise taxes on the middle class” Clinton would be best for the middle class. Yet Trump is the guy running against the “elite”, meaning largely against the wealthy. And his support base is Middle America.

Because the Teamsters support the Keystone Pipeline, it was thought they might endorse Donald Trump. But there’s more to it. Trump’s entire platform is built around expanding the middle class, growing America’s economy.

To highlight: Hillary has praised TPP numerous times. It is only Donald Trump (and Bernie) who made trade into an issue, and Trump has been talking on trade for decades.

Teamsters surely know that Hillary will not veto Obama’s three trade deals.

Jim Webb Jr. Will Vote for Trump

From Breitbart:

Webb’s son, interestingly enough, just told the Washington Post that he is voting for Donald Trump.

“I think there’s a pretty sour taste in a lot of guys’ mouths about Iraq and about what happened there,” Jim Webb Jr., a Marine veteran and Webb’s son—who is also a Trump supporter—told the Washington Post.

The Post cast Webb’s son’s comments in the light of him praising Trump’s vow to end nation-building type of foreign policy that Republicans drove under the Bush administration. While Trump’s vows to steer clear of establishment status quo type foreign policy has cost him a handful of votes among GOP elites in Washington, D.C., so the thinking goes, it has won him many more actual voters across America in places like Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina—and potentially even New York state.

And also Obama’s 3 trade deals (TPP, TTIP, TISA) are significant, angering Democrats as well as Republicans. Check out EOC’s latest.

Hopefully Trump can pull this off.

Meanwhile, Hillary thinks racism and Russia are behind all opposition to the moneyed elite. You’re either with Hillary, or you’re a racist commie… And according to Zerohedge, it sounds like Soros really is after Putin, also behind open-borders. Both revelations surprise absolutely no one.

And we might be on the verge of WWIII. Hopefully Trump speaks out against this. He took a gamble in the SC primary, and it is hoped he will once again take a gamble here: Condemn the warmongers Mr. Trump!

Trump Produces Brilliant Foreign Policy Speech

The text can be found here at Trump’s website. The actual speech is slightly different, because as always Trump improvised. No more Obama teleprompter reliance if Trump is president!

The speech is brilliant and something supporters can rally around. Previously we had been forced to cobble together our favourite statements, but that made for a rough advocacy of the candidate. Because it was said Trump says many things. With this speech, we have a solid, professional outline of Trump’s worldview and strategy.

My favourite parts:

“We left Christians subject to intense persecution and even genocide.”

Who would expect a president to dare defend Christians like that? How unPC; Trump is essentially saying Christians also matter!

Trump also focuses criticism on Obama-Clinton, not Bush. That is significant and highlights how he will go after Clinton in the main election.

“Many Americans must wonder why our politicians seem more interested in defending the borders of foreign countries than their own.

Americans must know that we are putting the American people first again. On trade, on immigration, on foreign policy – the jobs, incomes and security of the American worker will always be my first priority.”

Wow! And Americans also matter. How unPC!

“Under a Trump Administration, no American citizen will ever again feel that their needs come second to the citizens of foreign countries.”

There’s plenty more to like in that speech. Trump has essentially gone Paleo/Populist and America-First in all the right ways.

On divisive social issues like abortion and “gay” marriage, Trump is for returning them to the states, not dividing over them. And I believe that to be the appropriate position for such a diverse America. On education, Trump again wants the states and localities to direct their futures.

In other news, TrumpASAP has predicted Trump will now win. This is a reversal from before. The South might be Trump territory, but the North is clearly the Trump homeland! We have an odd East-West divide in the GOP, with the West a little more interested in Cruz. If Trump wins Indiana, he’s in.

David Stockman likes Trump better than Hillary. Quoth Stockman:

“So is there any chance at all that Trump will make America Great Again by erecting trade barriers, a Trump Wall on the Rio Grande and an end to America’s imperial beneficence and meddling abroad?

Stayed tuned. There may be more to The Donald than meets the eye.”

And in the comments section there, a conservative supporter of Trump, named Protogonus, makes an appropriate assault on Stockman:

“Stockman is a CLOSET ANARCHIST who believes everyone ought to live quietly in his own bungalow like Bilbo Baggins and IGNORE THE WORLD TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE.”

That is hilarious. Stockman says government is a “necessary evil”, but business is also a “necessary evil”. Man is fallen. In the ideal, we want an appropriate government run by the best and most virtuous in the society. Libertarians call for less government; socialists call for more government; and conservatives call for appropriate government. That’s how it’s always been. Conservatives are just fine with “statism”. We simply want a society that functions well, based on tradition and the tried-and-true. And in Trump, we finally have a conservative hero to rally around, as with Pat Buchanan.

In closing:

25-Year-Old Video: Trump Talked About Trade

Chronicles reported on a similar interview in Playboy from around the same time.

Another interesting comment, from Chronicles:

In the Playboy interview, Trump, who has had some recent run-ins with “Black Lives Matter” agitators, also supported the death penalty. When asked why he did, Trump said, “Because I hate seeing this country go to hell. We’re laughed at by the rest of the world. In order to bring law and order back into our cities, we need the death penalty and authority given back to the police.”

Trump Did Not Flip on H-1B Visas

From Trump’s website:

“Megyn Kelly asked about highly-skilled immigration. The H-1B program is neither high-skilled nor immigration: these are temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay. I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”

Throughout Trump’s campaign, he’s been hit with unfair attacks. Yet voters continue falling for them…

Cruz especially lies and hits Trump with half truths. Cruz’s supporters tend to believe Trump holds totally different views from those stated on his website.

And Cruz is the one who has adapted himself to Trump’s views as this campaign has unfolded.

The Case for Border Adjusted Federal Tax Reform via the Business Transfer Tax

THE CASE FOR BORDER ADJUSTED FEDERAL TAX REFORM
VIA THE BUSINESS TRANSFER TAX

by
David A. Hartman, Chairman
The Lone Star Foundation

That’s the gold standard on trade. I don’t believe Cruz’s plan is quite as good, because I don’t believe Cruz includes rebates. I could be mistaken. With such high levels of taxation, a flat tax is otherwise overly hard on the working poor. While low taxes are ideal, a large middle class is also ideal. Otherwise, voters will demand more government redistribution of wealth. Trump is wonderful in part because he protects the middle class and aims to grow the US economy. Voters must be kept happy.

Trump should consider adopting part of Hartman’s plan. I’m not saying Trump needs to adopt this exactly, but he could one-up Cruz with some part of this superior plan, superior to Cruz’s.

For those who don’t know: Chronicles generally has the best proposals. And I believe I first saw Hartman’s proposal there. Modern Age is also good.

Update: I suppose combined with a progressive income tax, as Trump would do, there’s no need for rebates.

I was just surprised to realise Cruz has the best protectionist trade policy. I already knew this was Cruz’s policy, but it hadn’t computed. I don’t trust Cruz though since Trump has longer been a trade protectionist. Cruz seemed to adopt this after noticing how popular Trump had become.

Will Democrats Become the War Party?

At the conclusion of Zaid Jilani’s Neoconservatives Declare War on Donald Trump, he writes:

With Trump’s ascendancy, it’s possible that the parties will reorient their views on war and peace, with Trump moving the GOP to a more dovish direction and Clinton moving the Democrats towards greater support for war.

Even if Democrats come to dominate in the US, having conservatives identify as dovish would be a wonderful thing.

This would lead to a natural dichotomy between empire and GK Chesterton’s Patriotic Idea. Secessionists (eg. Basques and Catalans) and non-interventionists would come to be seen in a positive light. No longer would the left-wing enjoy the moral high ground, and conservatism, rather than Sanders’s socialism, might come to be in vogue among students.

In other news, Brexit is now the majority choice. The EU has been a disaster, and I hope a breakup leads to greater peace and stability. Following the EU might go NATO. And following NATO we might see the break up of Russia, which would hopefully not lead to a Napoleon of Notting Hill scenario.

“Don’t you really think the sacred Notting Hill at all absurd?”

“Absurd?” asked Wayne, blankly. “Why should I?”

The King stared back equally blankly.

“I beg your pardon?” he said.

“Notting Hill,” said the Provost, simply, “is a rise or high ground
of the common earth, on which men have built houses to live,
in which they are born, fall in love, pray, marry, and die.
Why should I think it absurd?”

How humane you are, how tender, how considerate. You will make war
for a frontier, or the imports of a foreign harbour; you will shed
blood for the precise duty on lace, or the salute to an admiral.
But for the things that make life itself worthy or miserable…how
humane you are.

John O’Sullivan Says Trump IS OK

John O’Sullivan writes in the National Review:

To give a further paradoxical twist to the argument, the above immigration policy would tighten the labor market and, if sustained long enough, might even foster the prosperous middle class needed for such policies as the privatization of Social Security. For one of the internal contradictions of Kemp-style ideological conservatism was the attempt to combine mass immigration with the scaling back of entitlement programs: Keeping wages down through immigrant competition is incompatible with moving away from state welfare entitlements to market provision: Not many people would be able to save enough. More widely, mass immigration builds up a large new constituency for state welfare programs of every kind. As a New York Democrat once remarked, the Republicans have a choice: They can either change their policy on immigration or their policies on everything else. Trump stumbled on that insight earlier this year; it may have transformed American politics forever. Or not.

Haven’t critics been arguing this for years?

The GOP has pursued the interests of donors at the expense of the party. The strategy has seemed to be to bankrupt the US, forcing it to accept spending cuts while moving the US polity into a more global organisation after normalising wages among global partners. Obviously, most Americans reject this path, if given a choice.

While the US might now be on an inevitable course to bankruptcy, it is best to grow domestic investment, reduce unskilled immigration so that the coming “reset” isn’t so harsh as it otherwise would be. Ideally, a reset would be avoided altogether of course.

The advantage of so much present-day war spending is the US has an experienced military at the ready, but there’s no one to fight (none of the wars have been necessary). Foreign spending would be better directed domestically (eg. infrastructure) and on things like research and space exploration, or simply on balancing the budget. Additionally, Trump has mentioned the Federal Reserve Bank, could encourage future domestic investment if tackling that beast (ending low interest rates).

The US is divided, not only ethnically but by age. The elderly, mostly white, want social security and medicare, especially since they’ve paid into the Ponzi schemes for years. Younger Americans, who are less white, are more inclined to want free education (among other things), less inclined to support social security and medicare (though they do like Obamacare, currently). Additionally, around half of Americans pay almost no income tax. If the middle class and tax base aren’t expanded, we’re going to see a nasty future battle over government spending.

Trump has the potential to overcome such divides, uniting American citizens behind a pro-American platform, athwart many of the policies O’Sullivan’s “conservatives” would seem to support. Hopefully Trump can achieve the impossible: preserve American sovereignty, reduce the wealth gap, balance the budget, and more generally unify America. Pro-American policies (e.g. trade deals) are largely common sense, but it will be a struggle for Trump to pass them through Congress. Additionally, Trump is expected to spend money he doesn’t have, and Trump’s long-term focus could paint him badly in the near-term. Americans seem to prefer can-kickers and bubble-blowers over bubble-bursters.

Trump Needs Dennis Rodman

The latest attempt at derailing Trump is to label him “racist”. Trump’s strategy has been Alpha Male! Refuse to apologise or seemingly to disown any supporters.

And that is best. Rather than disown anyone, Trump simply needs to embrace every support group. Big Tent strategy.

Trump stands for the best interests of all Americans. Americans vs. Corporations. And we can get rid of socialism if Trump is allowed to improve the middle class. Trump’s platform is entirely built around growing the middle class, bringing investment to the US, improving the opportunities of all Americans.
