Pat Buchanan on the Candidacy of Donald Trump

Pat Buchanan makes the same point I (and others) have been making about the meaning of Donald Trump’s candidacy.

“the Trump constituency will represent a vote of no confidence in the Beltway ruling class of politicians and press.

Votes for Trump will be votes to repudiate that class, whole and entire, and dump it onto the ash heap of history.

Votes for Trump will be votes to reject a regime run by Bushes and Clintons that plunged us into unnecessary wars, cannot secure our borders, and negotiates trade deals that produced the largest trade deficits known to man and gutted a manufacturing base that was once “the great arsenal of democracy” and envy of mankind.

A vote for Trump is a vote to say that both parties have failed America and none of the current crop of candidates offers real hope of a better future.”

Does not task much courage to be a rebel if you are in the corner with Sleldon Adelson and the war party neocons. The last person to do that was Ron Paul. The second last was Pat Buchanan.THERE are some real courageous people, both are almost banned of Fox.,
Trump is a fool but he has his finger on the pulse of popular culture, and if you want to be a rebel without substance, he knows the buttons to be pushed. He says some things I can’t disagree with, but on war an peace, he is dangerous. I wonder if he gets it that Putin is not kidding about Ukraine and Georgia. He will not back down, and if some US president wants to project US power into the Russian back yard, he either have to ignominiously back down or be prepared for world war III. Putin is serious.

Trump is running as a Republican. Republicans, post-9/11, must call for war.

However, Trump not only speaks favourably of Putin, he also opposed the Iraq War. Trump is seen as relatively pro-Putin, certainly the most pro-Putin candidate of any of the Republicans.

We live in a democracy. The electorate is too stupid for a candidate to say what he believes. The game is won by taking popular positions or by just saying nothing.

For a Republican, Trump is a peacenik. If you want a candidate who pretends to want peace, find a Democrat. They don’t necessary want peace, but they will say they want peace. We saw how Obama handled Syria. Iran was admittedly surprising.
